SRINAGAR: Family members of Huriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday night dispelled rumours about the 84-year-old separatist being critical.
“Geelani sahib is stable. We appeal all his supporters not to pay heed to any rumour,” said Geelani’s son-in-law and close aide Altaf Ahmad Shah.
Shah however said family plans to shift ailing patriarch to Delhi for a check-up soon. Geelani faced complications due to sudden fall in temperature as he suffers from chronic bronchitis, he said.
The rumours about him being critical, was fuelled in the evening after all internet services stopped functioning. Apparently, collapse in power grid and snag in optical fibers are reason behind the internet black out.
