SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s acclaimed cricketer, Parvez Rasool was sold out at Rs 95 lakhs in the Indian Premier League Auction to Sun Risers Hyderabad Thursday. The base price for Parvez Rasool was 20 lakh and he was auctioned by Sun Risers Hyderabad for 95 lakhs.
Seven cricketers from the state were slated to go for bidding on Thursday. Other than the skipper and all rounder Parvez, others in the list included all-rounder Samiullah Beigh, speed star Abid Nabi, medium pacer Ram Dayal, batsman Ian Dev Singh, Shubham Khajuria and Umar Nazir.
It is for the first time in the six-year IPL history that any cricketer from J&K has made it to the auction.
Parvez later said he was very thankful to Almighty Allah for His blessings upon him.
I have no regrets that I did not get chance to represent India. These are the decisions taken by management and I welcome such decisions at every level. Cricket is my passion and I am hopeful that this season, I will perform well in Indian Premier League, Parvez told a Srinagar based news agency adding that cricket was his passion and he wanted to live up to the expectations of people of Kashmir who love and admire him.
The modest cricketer said he believes in the mantra play the game and play it well.
I am sure and hopeful that compared to last year, this season, I will get chance to play my cricket and I will give my best to my team Sun Risers Hyderabad which is led by Indias top cricketer Shikar Dhawan, Parvez said adding that he discovered his passion for cricket when he was very young. I have big plans for myself and I am working hard to achieve it, he said.
Thanking God, his parents and people of Kashmir for supporting and admiring him, Parvez said that he will not let down his admirers and will perform to his ability.
I am satisfied the way I performed in Ranji Trophy and in other tournaments. I will work hard and come up with excellent performances in coming IPL tournament, he said.
The Valley cricketer said that he plays the sport with great enthusiasm, passion and dignity.
