SRINAGAR: The screening of a documentary based on the life of Maqbool Bhat has been cancelled, reportedly due to objection of state authorities.
The screening was scheduled for Satarday at a local hotel here, but the filmmakers said the hotel authorities have informed them that the booking has been cancelled.
We were informed Friday morning by the Lala Rukh Hotel management that they have been informed by police to cancel the booking of the film screening, the filmmakers said.
Maqbool is a documentary film based on the life of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat produced by Footsteps Films, a group of film-makers and artists, they said.
One of the filmmakers told a news agency that the film is based on the personal and political life of Maqbool Bhat and has several interviews of his companions and childhood friends. The film has tried to cover all major incidents of Maqbool Bhats life and also emphasis has been laid upon the political situation of that time when Maqbool joined the militant ranks.
He said that the group of some young film makers have joined heads together and have started a production house called footsteps. We had the footage of more than 15 hours and the film has been thoroughly edited on final cut pro.
