Charar-i-Sharief: The cavalcade of Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti was stopped by protestors near Gulshan Abad, Charar-i-Sharief on Tuesday after which she travelled in a private vehicle to pay obeisance at Charar-i-Sharief shrine.
According to reports scores of people were protesting against Power Development Department (PDD) at Gulshan Abad near Charar-i-Sharief when cavalcade of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti appeared on the road. Protestors halted her cavalcade while scores of them encircled her vehicle.
Her security guards and police present on spot tried to disperse the protestors, however, Mehbooba did not allow them to do so and came out from the vehicle. She expressed her inability to redress the power woes of the people, an eyewitness Manzoor Ahmed said.
Eyewitnesses said that people did not allow the cavalcade to proceed towards the destination and she went by foot to a certain distance where a private vehicle was arranged for her. Mehboobaji was on her way to Charar-i-Sharief shrine to pay obeisance there and she reached safely there, one of the PDP leaders accompanying her said.
