SRINAGAR: Pradesh Congress Committee president and Member Parliament Prof Saif-u-Din Soz on Saturday advised the state government to go for appeal against the army courts decision to close the Pathribal fake encounter case.
The state government would be well advised to go in appeal to the Supreme Court against the army courts decision to close the Pathribal fake encounter case and bring the wrong doers to justice, Soz told KNS on phone from Delhi.
The Jammu and Kashmir PCC president observed it is clear that the army court has gone wrong in its decision regarding Pathribal Fake Encounter Case of March 2000. It was Indias premier investigating agencythe CBI that had charge sheeted the army for enacting the fake encounter at Pathribal way back on March 24-25, 2000 in which five innocent person Jumma Khan and others were killed in cold blood as militants responsible for the unfortunate incident of Chatisinghpora massacre that had taken place earlier.
Soz said that the CBI had marshaled credible evidence before the Supreme Court that five officers of 7 RR had maneuvered a fake encounter in which five innocent persons were killed. The Supreme Court had accepted the evidence of CBI and had decided on May 1, 2012 that the army should court martial five officers or set up a criminal trial against the accused army officers.
The PCC chief opined that in public eye it is totally unwarranted that the army court has closed the case. I feel that the J&K government should go in appeal before the Supreme Court immediately, he added.
