SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) Saturday slammed the statement of Director General of Police regarding the restriction put on the amalgam chairman Syed Ali Geelanis movement.
Comparing the political activity of Syed Ali Geelani, who represents the sentiments of majority population in Kashmir with Arun Jaitley and Tarun Tagodia, who have nothing to do with Kashmir and have no base here, smacks the imperialist mentality, a statement issued by the spokesman of the amalgam to Global News Service.
The peaceful and disciplined rallies in Sopore, Kupwara, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam belie the statement of Ashok Prasad that Geelani Sahibs movement is restricted because of apprehensions of any law and order situation, it added.
The statement said that DGP is aware of the position and the political stature of Geelani.
Ashok Prasads statement about Geelani sahib despite being fully aware that he is not a communal person like Tagodia represents the mindset of an imperialistic system which has subjugated Kashmiri people solely on military might and of which Mr Prasad is a part, the statement said.
Even the staunchest opponents of Geelani sahib acknowledge that he is not at least a communal person but he considers even non-Muslims as his brethren on the basis of humanity, the statement added.
