LOLAB: Army Thursday called off Lolab operation after they observed no more militant activity in the dense forests of Lolab area of North Kashmirs Frontier district Kupwara. Army personnel from 18 RR and SOG Kupwara had launched the operation against militant group on Tuesday after they received inputs that two to three militants were present in the Lolab Forest.
One militant was killed during the gunfight while the Army had recovered an AK-47 rifle from the possession of the slain militant.
Police sources said that during the search operation on Thursday, Army recovered 2 wireless sets, 2 GPS and 10 rounds of AK-47 rifle. There was no retaliation from the militants from Wednesday evening and thus operation was called off, a police official said adding that it is really a complicated task to nab the militants in such dense forests.
