SRINAGAR: Judicial Magistrate JMIC Pattan today pronounced imprisonment sentences to three drivers convicted for rash and negligent driving in different road traffic accidents in Pattan.
A driver Mohammad Sultan Khan resident of Palhallan Pattan was convicted in case FIR No: 322/99 under section 279, 304-A of Police Station Pattan pertaining to the death of Ghulam Rasool Rather resident of Palhallan Pattan due to rash and negligent driving was sentenced to two years imprisonment, a police official said.
He said that in another case a tipper driver Farooq Ahmad Nath son of Ghulam Qadir Nath resident of Noorbagh Srinagar was convicted in case FIR no. 99/2006 under section 279,337,304A of Police Station Pattan. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment under section 304 A and six months imprisonment under section 279 RPC.
In another similar case, a driver Habibullah Zargar son of Ghulam Mohi-U-Din resident of Pattan was convicted in case FIR no. 90/2006, 287 RPC of Police Station Pattan was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment, he said.
All the accused were taken into custody in open court and sent to District Jail Baramulla to undergo the sentence, the official said, adding that the conviction of case has been made due to the efforts of Police Pattan and prosecution wing of Police Baramulla.
