JAMMU: Special Investigating Team, constituted for investigating Gool firing incident of July 18, has presented challan against the six personnel of Border Security Force (BSF).
Four people were killed and 42 injured in BSF firing on July 18, 2013 at village Dharam in Tehsil Gool of Ramban district when they were protesting against the alleged desecration of Holy Quran.
“SIT constituted for investigating FIR number 55/2013 of Police Station Gool yesterday presented challan against six BSF personnel,” an official here today said.
He said that the challan was presented against constables S K Sikdar, D Shill, S Sardar, Manoj Kumar, ASI Charanjeet Singh and ASI A K Brahma in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ramban.
However, DIG BSF made an application through Deputy Commandant in terms of Section 80 of BSF Act 1968 requesting the Court to hand over charge-sheet along with the accused persons for being tried before Border Security Force’s Court, he added.
He further said that the CJM, in view of the mandate of Section 549 CrPC handed over the accused persons to authorised officer for their trial before the BSF Court.
The outcome of the trial to be conducted by BSF Court shall be intimated to the Court of CJM Ramban in due course of time, said an official.
