Omar’s comment on gay marriage ‘shameful‘: Grand Mufti

Srinagar: Kashmir’s grand mufti, Mufti Bashir-ud-din has condemned Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent remarks about gay marriage, terming them ‘shameful’.

Mufti, according to Kashmir News Service, while reacting to Omar’s tweet that questions of morality and or religion are not the issue, how can a life style choice be illegal?, said that Omar should think twice before making any comment that disregards the principles laid by the Prophet of Islam (SAW).

“The gay sex marriage is an unnatural offence in Islam and it is worthy of condemnation and punishment,” said Kashmir’s grand Mufti while adding that Omar’s remarks about the issue are shameful as he is a Muslim and rules a Muslim majority state.

He further stated that the rise and the fall of every nation is based on the grounds of morality and that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should introspect about his comments on gay marriages.
