Kulgam: Terming the election results of four states as a wakeup call for all political parties of Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, leader AMM and legislator on Tuesday stressed on need to have a broader mass movement to get rid of rampant corruption, misgovernance and administrative inertia in the state.
Addressing a public rally at Munad-Guffan in South Kashmir, Tarigami said need of the hour is to shun the conventional political approach about the issues confronting people on the ground. The election results of four states including Delhi, MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh reflects not only an anti congress mood of the people but a resonant message for change.
He said the misgovernance, rampant corruption, inflation and sky rocketing prices, rising unemployment has created a choking atmosphere for people which has compelled them to look for alternatives. However, we believe while giving vent to their anger people should not land into fire from frying pan. While striving for alternatives people should not allow communal political agenda to succeed.
Tarigami observed that merely relying on electoral manipulations or maneuvering is no solution or a substitute to address the problems faced by the people. In order to restore a dignified life, the people need to form a broader mass movement that can empower them and bring a substantial relief thereby reducing their sufferings.
The large-scale corruption at every level is a result of a nexus between politicians, bureaucrats and criminals. For a meaningful and result oriented struggle against this menace and making the administration transparent and accountable it is urgently required to initiate a sustainable mass movement.
Addressing the rally AMM leader Abdul Rashid Kabuli said that political uncertainty is the root cause of all the problems faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that India and Pakistan have to resolve this issue amicably and peacefully. Besides stressing on the unity of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir the AMM leader urged for restoration of economic and cultural unity among the people across the LoC in order to have a long lasting political stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
AMM leader Sanjay Saraf in his speech alleged that the power hungry political parties are diverting the attention of people from the real issues whenever elections are eminent. He said that the government has taken no concrete and result oriented measures for addressing the burning issues of unemployment, resulting in the frustration of youth and wastage of their energy. He said that the schemes meant for the unemployed youth have not yielded desired results due to procedural wrangling.
