SRINAGAR: Responding to Omer Abdullas speech in Sopore on Tuesday that people of the town had tied themselves to a ‘dream merchant’ , the Hurriyat Conference (G) today termed the chief ministers remarks as sheer frustration.
A spokesman of the Hurriyat (G) said it is the fundamental right of every citizen to aspire for his bright future and live with dignity. The National Conference leadership always bargained these dreams and aspirations of people for the their lust of power”, a Hurriyat (G) spokeman said.
While commenting over the then leadership striving for freedom under the banner of Plebiscite Front, he said that leadership betrayed people and bargained precocious and enormous sacrifices offered by the nation with Delhi just for Chief Ministerial post for their progeny”.
The then leader of National Conference at several times in his speech at Hazratbal Shrine had pledged and promised that he would not betray with sacrifices and the freedom movement, however betrayed and just for lust of chair gave up his demand for plebiscite and consequently it were the people and state that had to suffer because of political instability that continues till date.
In 1947, the leadership demonstrated their imprudence, invited Indian forces as blissful birds (Tairan Ababbeel) and during this period brought only destruction and devastation and it is more than 500 grave yards that stands testimony to this fact and speaks about the desperation that nation faces, reads the statement.
According to spokesman a meeting of executive council of Hurriyat was convened at Hyderpora under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Geelani.
The meeting discussed the issues related to the recent public meetings, ill-treatment to female visitors in central jail Srinagar, International Human Rights Day, ongoing freedom struggle and the latest developments.
The meeting expressed its satisfaction over the peoples participation and their enthusiasm during recent public rallies organized by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and said that it is encouraging and feel proud and has proved that fervor about freedom has neither diminished nor people feel exhausted .Executive Council members suggested Indian rulers to read the writing on wall and advised to abandon their stubborn and obstinate approach. It is impossible to suppress the freedom struggle by coercion and by offering privileges, said executive members in unanimous voice.
