SRINAGAR: Scores of plus two lecturers Tuesday staged a peaceful protest in Press Enclave Srinagar alleging that the Department of School Education is depriving them of promotions from past two years despite the fact that 208 posts of Principals and HoDs are lying vacant in the department.
Abdul Rashid, one of the protesters said that the assurances given to them by the authorities have proved hoax and no step is being taken to promote them.
Minister for Education Tara Chand had issued a statement in March that vacant posts would be filled within no time but till date nothing has been done, he said.
The protesting lecturers said that even on the Floor of the House, Education Minister has claimed that plus two lecturers would be promoted as soon as possible but till date no measures have been taken.
They alleged that authorities were using dilly-dallying tactics because of non-availability of eligible senior lecturers from special category. They appealed the concerned minister to take immediate measures in this regard.
When contacted Minister for Education, Tara Chand said that all the formalities in this regard have been fulfilled and these lecturers would be promoted as soon as possible.
