SRINAGAR: The crime branch of police has raided the residential houses of former BOPEE (Board of Professional Entrance Examinations) chairman, Peer Mushtaq Ahmed in Srinagar and Jammu.
According to sources, police confiscated property documents and seized other crucial evidence during the raids.
Raids were conducted in the course of investigations into allegations of fraud in the selection of candidates for MBBS course last year, they said.
The alleged scam became public last year with reports in the media saying that Mr Peer had made a fortune of 5 crore rupees by selling question papers of common entrance tests to aspiring candidates.
The state government had tasked crime branch to conduct a thorough probe into the alleged large-scale irregularities and corruption in the last four years in the selection process for professional courses, examinations for which were conducted by the under Peer’s tenure.
