Recently 8th class examination were held in the Valley and the result sheets of the said examination are being collected by the respective schools from District Institute of Education and training of each district duly confirmed by the respective DIET’s.
The conduct of 8th class examination are turning to be another mockery to ruin the aptitude and ability of the students due to the fact that a good number of candidates were carrying with them the same questions a day before carrying with them and displaying a day before due to the immaturity of some students who were seen openly sharing with their school mates and friends. No one ever thought to take it serious, perhaps our school education department is least interested to make the secrecy of the papers like that of 10 class examination papers conducted by the BOSE every year.
The 8th class papers are packed in a thin KHAKI paper instead of cloth lined envelopes which make it visible from distance with out seal not like that of the 10th class examination papers which are properly sealed in two cloth lined envelopes with red wax seal on its every side.This is the state of affairs of the DIET’s of the school education department in our valley where huge amount is incurred for conduct of the 8th class examination with out maintaining secrecy and sanctity of the papers for obvious reasons.
There is one more thing for parents to worry about the future of their wards being ruined by the govt schools due to their callous and biased approach towards the students of some elite and prominent students whose centers were in some prominent centrally located govt schools. The candidates of these elite private schools in the govt schools are step motherly treated while making marking of answer sheets with out fixing any criteria deliberately to led down the students of some elite private schools who even during exam are ill treated and told to converse in other than English by the invigilation staff. Even they are told this is not Biscoe, Burn Hall, Convent or Mallinson school so you have to act the way our system is in Govt schools. I am really embarrassed to see the candidates of these schools who after all odds tolerated the unwanted behavior of the invigilation staff and still tryed their level best to prove their mettle but here too most of the candidates of these schools where very hard to award the marks as per the answer and in most of the cases the students have been cut by one mark for just a one spell mistake which is not the case even with BOSE.The languages paper have been treated very harshly bypassing the Board criteria where care for such things is taken while marking different answer scripts. Yesterday a parent of a candidate was offered more marks to his son if he keeps mum but the parent declined the offer and told the school authorities that he was not begging for the marks but demanded rational marking and justice more importantly towards students of these elite private schools for no fault of theirs.
If the practice is not put to halt, time is nor far when our middle standard students will prefer to go out side valley for studies.
The Secretary school education and the Director school education kashmir need to look in the messy situation before its late.
