Srinagar: Senior separatist leader and National Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has termed the situation of Kashmiri prisoners in different jails as tragic and has appealed the concerned international institutions and forums to come forward for the rescue of these innocent prisoners of conscience.
Khan was speaking to his party workers and peoples delegations at party headquarter. On this occasion when some people raised the issue of prisoners, Khan said that these prisoners are the torch bearers of the ongoing resistance movement.
India and its local collaborators are using every sort of oppression to suppress Kashmiris and during last two and a half decades, thousands of innocent Kashmiris have been martyred, disappeared in custody and thousands others have been arrested only because they were working for a just cause of freedom of their people, Khan said.
Khan said that scores of Kashmiri people including Er Farooq, Mehmood Topiwala, Fayaz Ahmad, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Ayoub Dar, Mohammad Ayoub Mir, Dr Shafi Sharieti, Dr Qasim, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Taruiq Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Amin, Shawkat Ahmad Khan, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Misbah ul Islam, Rajdeen, Shabir Ahmad, Masrat Aalam Bhat, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Nazir Ahmad, Mohammad Ayoub, Bashir Ahmad, Mir Hafiz Ullah, Mohammad Yousuf Fallahi and others are languishing in jails like Nasik Maharashtra, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Tihar, Jodhpur, Kuthua, Hiranagar, Kot Bhalwal, Amphala, Udhmapur and different jails and interrogation centers of Kashmir.
Khan expressed his concern about the matter that most of the Kashmiri prisoners are kept without court trials and they are being imprisoned under newer but fake cases one after the other. This all happens under the nose of Judiciary, Khan said.
He appealed the International institutions to take cognizance of the situation of Kashmiri prisoners and work for their immediate release who have been kept behind bars under black laws like infamous Public Safety Act (PSA).
It is again a sorry state of affairs that these international forums have not done anything concrete for Kashmiri prisoners so far, Khan said and demanded an immediate release of all the prisoners whose crime is only that they talk of political rights of their people.
