SRINAGAR: Two days after they were blamed for dismissal of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking ban on use of pellet guns and pepper gas in Kashmir Valley, Lawyers Club Kashmir (LCK)a newly floated body of junior lawyers today criticized the role of Bar Association allegedly for maintaining a criminal silence over the insult they have faced from the High Court.
In a written statement, Advocate Babar Jan Qadri, president LCK has said that junior lawyers had duly consulted their seniors and they were always been briefed about the proceedings.
The High Court judgment is a sort of insult to junior lawyers of Kashmir. It is unfortunate that judges have insulted lawyers instead of dismissing the PIL on merit or on the basis of maintenance, Qadri said in the statement.
The LCK has also criticized Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani for issuing statement against junior lawyer without going through the facts of the matter. It is also unfortunate that Syed Ali Geelani has made statement without knowing the facts of the PIL and its proceedings.
Senior Lawyers such as Zaffar Quereshi and president Bar Association Mian Abdul Qayoom were also informed, Qadri has said.
The junior lawyers have also regretted that Bar Association is maintaining a criminal silence over what they said an insult inflicted on them. Instead of reacting to the judgment the Bar Association has issued notice to the lawyers for not raising issues concerning human life, Qadri has said in his statement.
