PAHALGAM: Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) seized a vehicle and arrested its driver for supplying material illegally to an influential person for construction purposes.
Before this incident, another person was held for ferrying construction material illegally in Pahalgam.
Chief Executive Officer PDA, Reyaz Ahmed said that in order to check illegal constructions and stop people from ferrying material, scores of check posts have been erected by PDA.
He said that during intervening night the officials of PDA intercepted a Winger (JK01S-3809) near Pahalgam which was carrying teakwood and other material for construction purposes.
The vehicle along with material was seized and the driver was arrested and handed over to Pahalgam police, he said.
A police official identified the arrested driver as Fayaz Ahmed Dhobi son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Pahalgam. An FIR number vide 91/2013 under section 188 of RPC has been registered in this regard, the official said adding that another person Abdul Rashid resident of Ganishbal, Pahalgam who was ferrying 15 bags of cement was also arrested.
Police however did not identify the real culprit the influential person.
