JAMMU: Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah this afternoon reviewed the prevailing security situation in the State at a high level security review meeting here.

B. Vyas, COS Northern Command, Lt. Gen. H. J. S. Sachdeva, Lt. Gen. 16 Corps. D. S. Hooda, GOC 15 Corps, Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh, Lt. Gen. 14 Corps. Rakesh Sharma, GOC 9 Corps. Lt. Gen. Parveen Bakshi, MGGS Northern Command, Major General, G. S. Chandel, GOC 26 Inf. Div. Major General Ashwani Kumar, GOC 29 Inf. Div. Major General Balbir Singh, DGP BSF, Subash Joshi, Director General Police, Ashok Prasad, DG CRPF, Dalip Trivedi, Special DG CRPF, D. K. Pathak, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shalinder Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu, Director IB, S. A. Ibrahim, Media Advisor to J&K, Bharti Vaid and other senior civil, police and army officers participated in the meeting.
The Army, BSF, CRPF, JK Police and representatives of other agencies related to the security gave detailed account of the prevailing security scenario and general law and order situation in the State.
Matters relating to violation of ceasefire by Pakistan Rangers and the difficulties caused to civilian by the shelling in border and LOC areas were also discussed in the meeting in detail.
Conducts Aerial Survey
Union Home Minister accompanied by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami, J&K State Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, State Principal Secretary Home, Suresh Kumar, J&K Director General Police, Ashok Prasad, Director General BSF, Subash Joshi and Director General CRPF, Dalip Trivedi had an aerial visit of the areas in Akhnoor, Samba, Kathua, etc. where ceasefire violation by PAK troops is causing great difficulties for common people.
The BSF officers briefed them at Samba about the prevailing situation in the border areas and violation of ceasefire by Pakistan Rangers. BSF officers presented detailed account of the measures put in place by the Border Security Force in this regard. Divisional Commissioner Jammu and IGP Jammu were also present in the briefing. At BSF Camp in Samba the Union Home Minister and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister also had an interaction with jawans. They also interacted with media and received memoranda from various delegations led by Minister of State for Cooperation, Manohar Lal and Legislators Subash Gupta and Durga Dass. They also visited the camp area attacked by militants killing the Army Colonel.
The Union Home Minister alongwith the Chief Minister also visited the Hiranagar Police Station which was also attacked by the militants.
