SRINAGAR: The authorities today released Shabir Ahmad Shah Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) president on bail granted by an executive magistrate.
Sources in police said, Shah was released from Central Jail where he was lodged after his arrest on October 16. Pertinently, the DFP president was arrested by police from Hazratbal shrine when he was about to offer the Eid prayers there.
Shah on October 16 had reached Hazrabal shrine and was on the front row. As the prayers started Shah was arrested by cops and not allowed to offer the Eid prayers. He was lodged at Zakoora police station. Police said he was released later.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Shah has expressed deep anguish over the killing of innocent people on October 22, 1993 in South Kashmirs Bijbehara area and Dargah Hazratbal by the forces over protesting against the massacre of pro-Hurriyat people.
Paying rich tributes to martyrs of Bijbehara Shah Sahib also expressed solidarity with those who were injured and families who had to bear the absence of their loved ones, the statement reads.
