Srinagar: A day after the mother of late Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah accused him of mixing killers of her son with that of political prisoners of Kashmir, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today telephoned the family of late Maulana to clarify his position vis-à-vis the press statements attributed to him.
Ayaz Akbar, spokesman of Hurriyat (G) said that Geelani made a phone call to late Maulanas family expressing solidarity with the family. The senior leader, according to Akbar, made the family understand about the recent statements issued from the Hurriyat office. Akbar said that the family of late Maulana later thanked Geelani for the phone call and promised to meet him in the near future.
Reyaz Ahmad Shah, brother of late Maulana, former president Jamiet-e-Aehli Hadith (JeAH), confirmed that a call from Geelani was received by his family. We received the phone call and he (Geelani) admitted that it was due to clerical mistakes that some names have been included in the list of political prisoners he had demanded release of.
