Agencies Behind Mushrooming of Political Parties, NGOs: Shah

SRINAGAR: Clarifying the confusion over its decision of withdrawing support to recently constituted Third Front, Muzaffar Shah, senior vice president Awami National Conference (ANC) today said the party working committee has not taken any decision in this regard so far.

Shah said that Ministry of home affairs and defense ministry were responsible for funding Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Director General of Police. People allege that sine 1990 all these agencies were responsible for the mushroom growth of political parties, NGOs and a number of newspapers.

Asked if merger with National Conference was still an option before ANC, Shah replied: It is not we who had expressed our willingness to merge with NC but it was Dr Farooq Abdullah and Dr Mustafa Kamal who while talking to a radio current affairs programme openly expressed their desire. In ANC, it can ever be a decision of Shah or Begum Sahiba but as I said, it is our working committee which takes policy decisions. I dont think it will ever happen, but if at all there is an offer, still our working committee will take a final call on this crucial matter, he added.

Shah said it is not that his party has found some flaws or lacunae in the present Third Front but a decision to support it will be taken only after the working committee approves the same. We have dear friends in this Third Front and we are also in touch with each other. In fact we are putting our efforts together to take out our suffering people out of the present crisis situation, he opined.
