SRINAGAR: Opposition members in the Legislative Assembly Tuesday were dumbfounded when Speaker abruptly announced the adjournment of the House.
When Peoples Democratic Party members continued to press for discussion and refused to take back the amendments about a bill relating to Rural Courts moved by Law and Parliamentary Minister, the Speaker adjourned the House as a result the House was left without the Speaker for half an hour.
At the time when the Speaker adjourned the House, most of the seats of Treasury Bench were empty.The PDP members stood up and called it against the procedure.
National Panthers Party members supported the point of PDP and its member Harsh Dev Singh said that according to procedure, instead of adjourning the House, the speaker surely had to go for the voting on the bill.
He said as the treasury benches were empty by one or the other reasons, the bill was sure to get defeated which meant the collapse of the government.
During the absence of the Speaker, the opposition parties turned to media gallery and told them to see the real face of the government.
The members continued to discuss the matter even after the speaker was out of the house. PDP legislator, Javid Mustafa Mir told Rural and Development Minister that the government should learn something from PDP, how they ruled in the State.
