SRINAGAR: In a surprise visit to Tehsil Office Hazratbal, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah Tuesday suspended 21 government employees for remaining absent from their duty.
The suspended employees included the Statistical Girdawar, 3 Senior Assistants, 4 Junior Assistants, 3 Patwaris and 8 Orderly.
The officials said that during surprise check of the office of Tehsildar North conducted by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar at 10:30 am, 21 employees were placed under suspension for remaining absent from their duties.
The treasury officer Khanyar and Tankipora has been directed not to release the salary of the absent employees till further orders.
When contacted, an official from District Development Commissioner Srinagar said that it was astounding to see most of the employees absent. The step was taken so that next time such employees would remain careful in future, he said.
