SRINAGAR: Police Sunday night foiled a jail break attempt by two inmates of Srinagar Central Jail, sources said on Monday.
Two under trials who tried to escape by climbing atop roof of a building inside the jail complex, are facing murder charges, sources said.
The jail sources said that the escape bid was meticulously planned by the duo from past few months.
Jail authorities have identified the under trials as Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh and Ghulab Sheikh, both residents of Shopian district.
Soon after the duo tried to flee by climbing on the roof top of a building, the cops guarding there caught hold of them immediately, the sources added.
When contacted Director General Prisons, K. Rajendra said that it was an attempt which was foiled by our brave forces. Both have been arrested, he added.
Meanwhile, Police Station Rainawari has registered a case FIR No. 224-RPC and further investigation has been taken up. (GNS)
