SRINAGAR: A local court on Saturday granted interim bail to incarcerated Muslim League Chairman Masarat Alam Bhat but according to a party spokesman, Alam was re-arrested and taken to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Humhama.
A local court in Bandipore granted interim bail to Alam in a case FIR No. 220-13ULA/2009 (Unlawful Activities Act) by ordering the concerning authorities to release him till October 7.
We went to Sub District jail Baramulla with court orders for Alams release but they instead of following court orders shifted him to JIC Humhama, League General Secretary Abdul Ahad Parra said, adding that court granted him bail on the facts that he (Masarat) was in sub jail Rajouri on 23-10-2009 when this FIR was registered against him.
Terming the re-arrest of Masarat worst kind of human rights violation, Parra said there was no doubt now that Jammu and Kashmir is run by police and has turned into a Police State.
The recent confession of former Army General V.K.Singh has vindicated our stand that there never was democracy in the state and that all the affairs here are run by army and agencies, Parra added.
He also said that police wants Masarat to languish behind bars for the rest of his life. As they know Masarat has played a crucial role in peoples uprising during 2008 and 2010 which stirred the entire Indian state, they are now resorting to political vengeance by repeatedly re-arresting him, League General Secretary added.
