SRINAGAR: Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad Monday said that the group of militants involved in the attack on CISF personnel was the similar group which carried out an attack in Hari Singh High Street in June this year.
Initial investigations have revealed that the militants involved in todays attack, near Naz crossing, had come from Sopora town and there is maximum possibility that they would have fled from the Srinagar city soon after carrying out the attack, Prasad told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that some militants may be present in Srinagar and its adjacent areas.
DGP said that police had information that some militants from Sopore have managed their entry into Srinagar. It were most probably these militants who carried out todays attack, Prasad said.
He said that militants used the same weapon, which was used in killing policemen near Hari Singh High Street attack this year in June. Same group is operating in Srinagar and we hopefully would bust this group in coming days, Prasad said (CNS)
