SRINAGAR: A joint meeting of APHCs executive, general and working committee members was today held at Hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh. Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, who remains under house detention, addressed the gathering through video.
The participants in the meeting discussed the situation in Shopian in the aftermath of five innocent killings and ongoing political situation.
Raising serious concern over the overall situation in Shopian due to continuous imposition of curfew and the hardships faced by the inhabitants, the participants expressed complete solidarity with the people of Shopian.
The meeting decided that on the coming Friday, September 20, APHC Chairman along with Hurriyat leadership and workers would march towards Shopian to force authorities to revoke curfew. They will offer Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Shopian. The participants appealed the people of the peripheral districts like Kulgam, Pulwama and Islamabad to march towards Shopian on Friday to express solidarity with the towns people.
The meeting decided that Mirwaiz would lead the march from Jamia masjid, Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi from Badgam, Moulana Abbas Ansari from Gund, Pattan, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat from Botengoo Sopore, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza from Islamabad, Zaffar Akbar Bhat from Chanapora, Javed Ahmad Mir from Lal chowk, Hakim Abdul Rashid from Lal Bazaar, Saleem Geelani from Ganderbal, and Syed Bashir Andrabi from Pulwama.
Meanwhile Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told KNS that if the curfew was lifted from shopian before Friday, then only Hurriyat leadership would march towards Shopian.
If they lift the curfew before Friday, only Hurriyat leadership would then march towards shopian.
