SRINAGAR: Rejecting the report that appeared in this newspaper that students of Government Medical College (GMC) participated in cultural show in New Delhi, the college administration today came up with a clarification in this regard.
According to GMCs statement, it was a Pulse Programme, an educational event organized by All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi every year. They invite students from all medical colleges of India.
The medical students of Government Medical College, Srinagar both boys and girls every year go to AIIMS, New Delhi to participate in healthy academic and sports competitions not in any alleged immoral activities as reflected in news items across media, the statement said.
It said the students of GMC are participating only in academic activities like scientific debates, quizzes and poster competitions. This pulse programme organized by AIIMS takes place every year and students of GMC are not attending this event for first time.
We therefore hold that the reports regarding GMC students indulging in any alleged immoral programme /activity is not based on facts and is hereby denied, the GMC statement added.
