According to Hindu sages, during the period of Ramayana, sacred Devi Raghenya resided in Lanka and she saw lord Hanuman and told him that her time in Lanka was over and asked lord Hanuman to carry her to Kashmir region in Himalayas. Then Hanuman saw this place and carried Devi who was in the form of a rock. Since then holy Devi started residing in the same place i.e. Kheer Bhawani Tullmulla Kashmir.
Kalhanas Rajtarangini also mentions Kheer Bhawani stating that the spring is situated in marshy grounds of Tulmulla and is considered very sacred.
Hindu mythology states that the colour of the holy spring goes on changing and it is said that whenever the colour of its water turns red or black, any dismaying and unfortunate event has to happen. That is literally not considered as a good harbinger. Kashmir valley often faces the brunt of the red and black spring colour that clenches people with some untoward and horrible episodes.
These days the colour of the spring has turned red which is so unfortunate and considered inauspicious for the valley of Kashmir as per Hindu beliefs. I wholeheartedly pray for peace and prosperity of my land and May Allah puts our valley up with ultimate serenity and glee!
