Srinagar: Para Medical staff and attendants staged a protest against Jehlum Valley College (JVC) administration and alleged that present Medical Superintendent in league with Director SKIMS have messed up the affairs of the hospital.
They demanded immediate removal of the Medical Superintendent and urged upon the authorities to restore order in the hospital.
Reports said that scores of attendants and para medical staff assembled in the premises of JVC and raised slogans against the hospital administration. They alleged that the hospital is facing an acute shortage of medicines, IV fluids and life saving drugs. Attendants said they were forced to purchase medicines from private chemists due to non-availability of drugs in the hospital.
CT Scan machines need minor repairs and replacement of some parts. It is the investment of few rupees but the officials are least concerned about getting these rectified, an employee said.
The protestors said that X-Ray machine is defunct due to which patients and attendants are facing lot of problems. Scores of patients, who were daily availing affordable CT Scan facility inside the Hospital, are facing delay and being compelled to go to private centres for the test where they have to cough up exorbitant charges, they said and alleged that the Medical Superintendent has turned the hospital into a garbage dump.
Washrooms are damaged and water is accumulated in the hospital premises. Presence of dogs put us always under threat. We had apprised the hospital management about the issue but our pleas met with deaf ears, a Para-Medical staffer said adding that the present MS who secured his extension recently is enjoying the patronage of Director SKIMS.
MS, JVC did not comment on the issue, while Director SKIMS did not pick up the phone. Deputy Medical Superintendent, JVC said that she does not want to be part of this problem. (CNS)
