Srinagar: The inhabitants of Ganzbagh area of Lal Bazar Srinagar on Tuesday said thefts are on the rise in the locality and they have started feeling insecure because thieves carry daggers along to frighten them.
A number of thefts have taken place in the locality is last few days but nothing has been done so far to instill security among the residents, the locals said.
Women especially feel insecure as they are alone at home during the day when their husbands and children are away, the residents said.They said that a domestic help of a particular residence was attacked with the dagger by the thieves.We have already informed the police about the incidents but nothing substantial have been done so far to allay our fears, they said.
However, the police said that it has already started night patrolling in area and is doing what is required.We have also arrested few thieves and are at the job. We have started the night patrolling in the area. We are doing what is required, Station House Officer Bazar Nazir Ahmad said.
