Budgam: District Baseball championship organised by District Baseball Association Budgam at SK Stadium, Chattergam concluded today in which 12 teams participated.
Of the 12 teams that participated 6 were boys teams and 6 girls teams.
In Boys section the final of the championship was played between Govt Hr Sec School, Bhugam and Al-Asma High School, Chattergam in which Al-Asma High School defeated GHSS, Bhugam in thrilling encounter by 13:08 homes. Roohullah Hussain of Al-Asma H/S, Chattergam was adjudged as the best player of the championship. However, in Girls section GHSS, Bhugam defeated Glory Mission High School by 15:11 homes in closely fought contest.
The final two encouters of both boys & girls were witnessed by large number of the spectators. Two teams including both boys and girls from district Budgam were selected to represent the district Budgam in the upcoming 8th State level Baseball Championship to be held in Srinagar in October this year.
Ali Mohammad Rather, Sarpanj Chattergam was the chief guest on the concluding function who distributed the prizes among the winner and runner-up teams. Mr Fida Hussain Fidvi, General Secretary J & K Baseball Association was also present on the occasion. During his address he louded the role of District Baseball Association Budgam in an excellent way. He appreciated the DBBA for flourishing the baseball among the youth.
The championship was organised under the auspices of J & K Baseball Association and was sponsored by the J & K State Sports Council.
