PULWAMA: Unidentified men, wearing masks, went on a rampage during Monday night in Pinglana area of Pulwama and damaged at least 50 vehicles.
Reports said some masked men appeared in Pinglena at around 11 in night and smashed the vehicles randomly that were plying on the road.
A driver Reyaz Ahmed said that these masked men were stopping every vehicle that was coming from Pulwama to Srinagar and vice versa.
Drivers were stopped and dragged out from their vehicles and thrashed mercilessly. These men were armed with lathis and iron rods. My vehicle was damaged completely and I was beaten to pulp, he said.
Another driver said that even truck drivers were not spared by these men and their trucks were damaged as well. Most of these truck drivers were non-locals. Some drivers turned their vehicles back to save themselves from the wrath of these unidentified men, he said.
When contacted, Station House Officer, Pulwama, Sabzar Ahmed said that Pulwama is a safe area and no such incident occurred in the district. Someone might have spread this false rumour and there is not an iota of truth in it, he said. (CNS)
