SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi Thursday asked residents of Shalimar and adjacent areas to raise pro-Kashmiri slogans on public address systems so that the ambassadors of European Union would come to know about the real aspirations of people of Kashmir. She said that people should play patriotic numbers and raise anti-India slogans before, during and after the musical concert at Shalimar garden.
Addressing a press conference at her Soura residence, Asiya Andrabi claimed that Zubin Mehta is a Zionist, adding it was an absurd claim that Mehta enchants the oppressed lot in Palestine with his music.
Wherever he (Zubin Mehta) performed in Palestine, people protested there and vehemently demanded his departure from the area. We all should know that Zubin Mehta is the Director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Israel is the country responsible for the killing of innocent Muslims, Andrabi said.
She said that Zubin Mehta is the beloved of Israel and the biggest thing is that he is pursuing the ideology of Isreal. Zubin Mehta is arriving here with a purpose and this musical concert is not politically viable for Kashmir. Even, Islam does not permit such type of concerts, she said adding that DeM supports the parallel concert organized by Civil Society of Kashmir. I appeal these Civil Society people to organize the concert within the ambit of Islam.
Andrabi lamented that clerics did not play a positive role and did nothing to make people aware about the ugly impact of the musical concert. Society expects a greater role from clerics and religious organizations but they failed to deliver. CNS
UJC Supports Geelanis Strike Call
United Jihad Council (UJC) chairman and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salah-ud-Din Thursday termed Zubin Mehta musical concert on September 7 Srinagar as rubbing salt to the wounds of Kashmiri people.
In an emailed statement, the UJC spokesperson Syed Sadakat Hussain quoting Salah-ud-Din said, From 1947 till date five lakh Kashmiris have been killed by Indian troops, more than 10 thousand have been subjected to enforced disappearances, hundreds of women have been raped and the process is still on. Germany which claims to be the champion of human rights didnt ever bother to send a delegation to Kashmir to see the situation. But to rub salt on the wounds of Kashmiris, they had no problem in organising a musical concert in Srinagar.
They want to give this impression to the world that freedom movement in Kashmir has ended. The attitude of German rulers is regrettable, he added.
While supporting the strike call given by Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday, the UJC chairman said that Kashmiri nation will hold peaceful protests on September 6 and observe complete strike on September 7 to show to the world that freedom movement in the state is on and wont end till it reaches to its logical conclusion.
