SRINAGAR: In the on going 8th Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup being played at Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Gandhi Memorial College defeated Post Graduates KU by two wickets.
After winning the toss Gandhi Memorial College elected to field first. Post Graduate KU scored 135 runs in allotted 25 overs. Adil and Fayaz contributed 48 & 22 runs in 44 & 22 deliveries respectively. For Gandhi Memorial College Abid Nabi claimed three wickets, Zubair, Umer & Faizan claimed two wickets each.
Chasing a modest target of 136 runs Gandhi Memorial College players achieved the target in 21.03 overs but at 8 wickets loss in the process and won the match by two wickets.
For Gandhi Memorial College Jasbeer and Abid Nabi were the main contributors with 41 & 35 in 50 & 19 deliveries. For Post Graduates KU Adil, Wahid, Mudassir claimed two wickets each and Mudassir Rinku one.
Gandhi College booked their place in the finals of the tournament which will be played on 5th of September 2013 and Islamia College of Science & Commerce will play against Government Degree College Shopian in semi-finals on Monday 2nd of September.
The Tournament is being played in the memory of Ex-Principal of the college Prof. Mohammad Yousuf, whose contribution in the development of college infrastructure and especially college play-ground was outstanding.
