RAJOURI:Showing serious concern over the boycott of classes by teachers, Vice Chancellor BGSB University Prof Hamal has appealed them to resume classwork in the interest of the career of students. He has said that majority of the demands projected by the Teachers have been conceded and policy matters are under consideration which may take some time to be mitigated.
In his appeal to the teaching fraternity VC said University is a seat of higher learning which young men and women join to get enriched in knowledge and skills to face the real world. Teachers and supporting staff play pivotal role in shaping the life of these aspirants by preparing them for the rough and tumble of life.
The message added As a new institute takes birth it struggles to attain success and distinguish among similar other institutes. BGSB University is no exception. In a short span of 8 years, it has reached the take off stage, as a result of the hard work and dedication of its teaching / non teaching faculty and the students in this remote part of the state.
He has said that the achievement which the university has made was testified on the day of Convocation by Chancellor, in his Convocation address.
The message further read All of you are aware that the stability and excellence in an educational institution comes with the experience the teachers and rest of the University staff gain over the period of time. If we compare the status of the university between 2005 and 2013, we realize we have gone a long way. If we continue with same zeal and dedication, the day is not far when BGSBU will reach the pinnacles of glory.
He said that there are many difficulties all are facing at Rajouri and many of these have been overcome, those left out will, and in near future all will be realized.
He added We face two major difficulties, one at the financial front and the other with regard to good human resource particularly at the senior level. To solve these, we worked hard. We achieved success at the financial front . Generous grant from the State Govt. and UGC plan funds have brought us out of financial stringency. This helped us to introduce 6th pay commission grades including arrears, undertake infrastructure development, and liquidate 7 8 crore debt
The University has to work under constraints in view of limited resources and remote geographical conditions. That notwithstanding, we are on the path of progressive development.
As we are growing, I am confident that in near future these difficulties will be overcome but what I expect is that all stake holders of the University will realize that when we have opted to be part of BGSBU, as teacher or as non teaching staff or even as student, we have to be prepared to work under inherent constraints due to remote geographical location, financial stringency of the University and young age of the university.
The demands projected by the Teachers are being discussed by a Committee with the representatives of the Teachers. Understandably, the talks are yielding results and a common platform is being evolved for resolving most of the issues they identify. A few issues require further discussion which I hope will also be addressed soon. Further delay in resumption of teaching shall only lead to academic loss and inertia in the University. The academic activity should, therefore, be resumed in the interest of our students and the stability of the University.
He has looked forward to the cooperation of all stakeholders of the University to take the University to greater heights.
