SRINAGAR: Students at Kashmir University held demonstrations Friday to protest bloodshed in West Asia particularly military coup in Egypt and massacre of innocent civilians by the military.
Hundreds of students, carrying pro-Morsi and Muslim Brotherhood banners and raising slogans against the present military regime of Egypt marched through the campus after Friday prayers.
The students alleged these massacres were being carried at the behest of US, Saudi-Arabian ruling clan and Israel.
They also offered prayers in absentia for those killed in recent massacres.
The Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani had called on people of Kashmir to offer funeral prayers in absentia for martyrs of Egypt on Friday.
Soon after the funeral prayers, the students organized a march and raised anti-US and anti-Israel slogans. Slogans were also raised against the Saudi rulers.
In a statement Kashmir University Students Union condemned the July 3 military coup in Egypt and described it as West’s proxy war on Islam. The Muslim Brotherhood has a history of unparalleled sacrifices in the struggle for Islamization of the Arab world and the current sacrifices are in the same direction. The massacres of Muslims world over is part of the hate that anti-Islam forces harbour against Islam & Muslims, the statemet reads.
The Saud regime’s criminal support for the massacres in Egypt is nothing new and has been part of the treacherous role that it has played ever since it (Saud family) spearheaded the British backed Arab revolt against Ottoman caliphate. Saudi regime’s interests go only as far as protecting its own hegemonic control over Arabia and concealing the same in the garb of protecting Islam, the statement further said.
