CMs PA System Fails In PDP Bastion: Glitch Or Mischief?
SRINAGAR: Three officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Information department were placed under suspension after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah failed to address a rally in South Kashmirs Bijbehara township due to glitch in the public address system on Saturday.
Anantnag District Information Officer Tanveer Ahmad and two other officials were placed under suspension after the public address system stopped functioning abruptly as the chief minister was about to begin his speech at a rally at Adar in Bijbehara. Bijbehara is the home town of PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
Public address system stopped working when district president of the National Conference Mohammad Akbar Ganai was addressing the gathering, an official present there said.
All efforts by the officials present there failed to restore the system and this infuriated chief minister who was waiting to address the gathering.
He then left the venue without addressing people who were waiting there since morning.
We installed the public address system last night as in the morning a cultural party was performing from 9 am to 11:30 am. But unfortunately, when CM was about to speak one of the amplifiers stopped working, Tanveer Ahmad, District Information Officer, Anantnag said, adding that later all three amplifiers developed same fault.
The department has initiated enquiry against me and I believe some miscreants who were part of gathering have done the job, Tanveer added.
When contacted Director Information, Kashmir, Zaffar Ahmad, said We are ascertaining the facts how all the amplifiers developed snag. He also confirmed the suspension of District Information Officer Tanveer Ahmad and three other employees of the department and said Joint Director Information has been tasked with conducting the inquiry.
