SRINAGAR: Stressing that Indo-Pak tension was not in the interest of south Asia, Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday said that both India and Pakistan were nuclear powers and thus the responsibility falls on them to change their thinking and actions to save the current tense situation from reaching any dangerous point.
The remarks came to fore during Hurriyat (M) executive meeting here which was convened by the chairman of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
According to a spokesperson of the Hurriyat all the executive members participated in the meet. During the meeting the participants said it was important that both the countries should protect the ceasefire agreement, otherwise, any carelessness on their part would prove to be detrimental for both the nations including Kashmir, he said.
The participants once again stressed upon the need of creating conducive atmosphere for solution of pending issues between the two countries. In this connection, the APHC said they will be dispatching letters to the heads of both the countries suggesting them that in the present changing scenario of the world, solution of issues through peaceful means have become inevitable, he said adding, it has been cleared that Kashmiri was the basic contention between the two nations and its solution was thus significant to bring peace and prosperity in south Asia.
The meeting decided that the Hurriyat (M) would become more active on political and organizational front so as to point out the dangers to people in the ongoing situation and ask them to get united to play a decisive role in solving the Kashmir issue.
Executive members Maulana Abbas Ansari, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Musadiq Adil, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and others participate in the meeting.
Meanwhile the spokesman has sternly condemned the crackdown on youth by the forces and police in Shopian area of south Kashmir. He alleged the police was arresting innocent youth for ransom, adding, the terror of police was such in the area that many people are thinking are migrating from the area. The Hurriyat (M) demanded the immediate release of all the youth arrested in Shopian.
The Hurriyat has also instructed constitution of a high level delegation who
would visit Shopian and take stock of police terror and express solidarity with the inhabitants.
