WATCHI (SHOPIAN) Listing the path breaking initiatives taken by his Government for peace, political stability and holistic development in the State, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah made a comparison between his and PDP led Governments and said that PDP leadership galvanized its politics by deception and falsehood. He said the work done by his Government speaks loud and clear on the ground.
They (PDP) forgot all issues while in power and we strived for political addressing of political issues and pushing forward development on fast track, he said and described the demand of PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayed for 40 Assembly seats to resolve Kashmir issue as a mere trick to grab public attention.
The PDP Patron never talked about resolving Kashmir issue when he was Home Minister of the Country and Chief Minister of the State, Omar Abdullah said and reminded the people of the speech of Mufti Mohammad Sayed made in Ganderbal asking gun-wielding youth to drop guns as their representative (Mufti Mohammad Sayed) has come to talk for them. What happened then, Omar questioned and said that in Mufti Mohammad Sayeds tenure the process of dialogue initiated in the Government of Dr. Farooq Abdullah between militant commanders and the Government was totally sabotaged as also the return of youth from across LOC under Rehabilitation Plan blocked.
Chief Minister was addressing a large public meeting at Ribbon Khojpora in Watchi Assembly constituency of Shopian District after inaugurated 190 metres long Turkwangam Bridge constructed at a cost of Rs. 12.63 crore and laying foundation of 50 metres long Rs. 3.5 crore bridge at Ribbon.
It is easy to raise slogans like Healing Touch but to act practically in this direction is something different which is unknown to PDP leadership who only know to flare up sentiments and exploit people by deception and false promises, he said and drew the attention of people towards ignoring Watchi Constituency by its representative (Mehbooba Mufti) in the Legislative Assembly. When they (PDP leadership) have made remaining absent from Assembly proceedings their habit, how can they attend to the public issues and get these solved?, he questioned and asked the people to give PDP a befitting answer by ensuring permanent eviction of its MLAs from the Assembly in 2014. They (PDP MLAs) love to remain absent from the Assembly so they should be kept away from it permanently, he added.
Omar Abdullah said that holistic development has remained the bench mark of the governance of his Government and ample funds were provided to all areas to ensure faster development. It is up to the representative of the area to ensure works and pay attention towards the public requirement, he said and substantiated his statement by providing facts and figures regarding the allocation of funds to Shopian district annually and said that his Government has made development an apolitical affair and funds are provided irrespective of any consideration.
The Chief Minister said that during the last year Rs. 260 crores had been provided to district Shopian for development works while equal amount has been earmarked for the current financial year. He announced upgradation of Khojpora Middle School, PHE Sub-division for Watchi, a Veterinary Centre, two health sub-centres one each for Watchi and Ribbon, upgradation of health sub-centres to primary health centres at Turkwangam and Chattergam and a 10 MW capacity transformer in the area.
The 5×38 metre span trussed bridge over Rambiara Nallah on Turkwangam-Lassipora road will upgrade connectivity between the three districts of Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian. It will also help to expand Lassipora Industrial Estate upto Turkwangam and connect fruit areas of Lassipora, Pulwama and Kulgam wilth Shopian district.
