Srinagar: Police on Monday busted a gang selling fake celestial stones by arresting six persons in south Kashmirs Anantnag district.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information, police station Ashmuqam arrested four cheaters who were duping people by selling fake celestial stones locally known as Trata Goola which they were claiming to have magical powers.
Those arrested, he said, include Ghulam Hassan Mir son of Mohammad Akbar of Fohar, Shabir Ahmad Akhoon son of Ghulam Hassan of Mati Gawran, Gull Mohammad Bhat son of Abdullah Bhat of Sakhdas and Ghulam Rasool Mir son of Mohammad Akbar of Shatru Kokernag.
Aishmuqam Police registered a case FIR number 63/2013 under section 420,511 against the cheaters and investigation has been started.
SSP Anantnag has issued an advisory for the people not to fall prey to such cheaters and fraudsters, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, in similar cheating incident in Bijbehara, the spokesman said, two cheaters were arrested by the police who were duping gullible people by selling the magical stones.
The arrested cheaters have been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Khan son of Arif Khan of Nishat Srinagar and Mohammad Shameem Rather son of Mohammad Sultan of Behama Ganderbal. A case FIR No (139/2013) under 420 RPC was registered against them. (KNS)
