Shia Leader Prays At Makhdoom Sahib Shrine

SRINAGAR: Shia leader Aga Syed Abdul Hussain-al-Mosavi Wednesday visited the shrine of Sultan-ul- Aarifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA) and offered prayers there.

Aga, a member of World Forum for Proximity of Schools of Islamic Thought during his interaction with people there said that a false propaganda was created to keep Sunni and Shia Muslims far from each other. Anti-Islam elements created a lie that there were differences between our ancestor Mir Shamsudin Araki and Makhdoom Sahab and that they fought with each other.

I myself belong to the dynasty of Hazrat Mir Shamsdin Araki and used to pay visit to this shrine in past as well, Aga said, adding that it has been my endeavour to clear the misconceptions regarding Shia-Sunni conflicts and bring about unity among both the communities.

He said that when we look at history of Kashmir, Makhdoom Sahab was born many years after the death of Mir Shamsudin Araki. How could they fight with each other? Aga asked, adding that it is my 3rd visit here and Shias too revere Sultan.

He said Kashmiris have strong faith in Sufi saints. Makhdoom Sahab was one of the great Sufi saints of Kashmir and a true Muslim can never disrespect or curse others on the basis of ideology.

Aga Abdul Hussain while appealing people for unity urged them to foil anti-Islam agendas and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Quran for the betterment of Islam, nation and humanity.

It is noteworthy that Aga is younger son of late Agha Syed Mustafa al Mosavi of Budgam and brother of Hurriyat leader Agha Syed Hassan.
