Srinagar: The chief spokesman of the Supreme Court of Islamic Shariet has strongly condemned publication of defamatory news in a Delhi based newspaper in which it has been reported that Mufti Azam Mufti Mohammad Bashir-ud-Din Ahmad has attended a music concert.
The chief spokesman of his court today clarified that the conference was purely of religious nature, which besides Mufti Azam was attended by the prominent personalities of the State. While clarifying position that there was neither any kind of rock band nor musical program during the conference he said as such the publication of the news report is nothing but a concocted story.
Therefore under Defamation Act, we reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings against the chief editor of Mail Today. It is pertinent to mention here that there will be no compromise with regard to the verdict (Fatwa) already announced by this Supreme Court of Islamic Shariet regarding Rock Band, he said.
