SRINAGAR: Terming the Budgam incidents shameful for the entire Ummah, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, today said that it was regrettable that while government was indulging in bloodbath of Kashmiris, Kashmiris themselves were playing into the hands of scheming people who want to create a wedge between Muslims here.
It is highly regrettable that some unfortunate incidents have been reported from Budgam. These incidents are shameful for the whole Islamic Millat, Mirwaiz said in his Friday sermon at Srinagars Grand Mosque.
Mirwaiz said it was highly unfortunate that instead of looking inwards and get united to fight a common enemy; some people were fighting amongst themselves for petty issues. He said it was important to create unison among our own ranks since nobody would come from outside to do it for Kashmiris.
He said there was no room for differences on petty issues among various sects in Islam. He appealed the Ulema to expose the anti-Islamic and divisive forces and work towards unifying the ranks Kashmiris.
Mirwaiz said that the wanton arrests of youth by police, imposing restrictions on the religious and political activities of pro-freedom leaders, and unleashing oppression on Kashmiris in the ongoing sacred month of
Ramzan by the authorities was shameful and a highly condemnable act.
Instead of bringing the erring forces involved in the bloodshed of innocent Kashmiris to justice, Mirwaiz alleged that the government was targeting common Kashmiris specially youth for staging peaceful demonstrations, demanding punishment of the accused troopers.
After remaining house arrest for more than a month and barred from offering prayers for several Fridays, Mirwaiz was today allowed to go for Friday prayers at historic Jamia Mosque.
Mirwaiz said since 1931 till date, political, religious and human rights of Kashmiris have being violated and there has been no change what so ever. He said in 1931 the despotic rule showered bullets on Kashmiris when they were protesting against the desecration of Quran.
This time as well the despots repeated this tradition. Under the sham cloak of democracy, the tyrants opened fire on innocent Kashmiris protesting the sacrilege of holy Quran, killing and injuring dozens , Mirwaiz said.
As the whole Muslim Ummah beseeches for blessing in this sacred month of Ramzan, Mirwaiz said the despotic rulers have usurped the religious and political rights of Kashmiris. He said the people are being stopped from offering prayers; pro-freedom leaders are placed under house arrest, youth who raise their voices against tyranny are given third degree torture and lodged in jails.
