Srinagar: A third class student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the bathroom of a private school in the outskirts of Srinagar city on Thursday.
According to reports, Salih Sublime High School, which accommodates mostly the students from Orphan Centres opend like other schools after the summer vacations on Thursday.
I was in my office when a ninth class student Adil informed me that Najeeb is missing from the class though his bag was available there. I took it easy and asked the boy to search for him. He came back saying that Najeeb is possibly inside the bathroom and he is not opening up the door. We all went there and I told them to break the door. What we saw was shocking. Najeeb was lying dead there, Principal Sameer Ahmed Mir told CNS adding that it was the first day of the school and due to office work, he had not attended any class till this unfortunate incident occurred.
Sameer Ahmed further said that he called the police who take the body of Najeeb-bin-noor son of late Noor Mohammad of Tengpora, Srinagar for postmortem.
I was being questioned and I am telling the police to go for any damn test to reveal the circumstances behind his death. It is absurd to say that teachers in the school resort to corporal punishment. Tell me for Gods sake, that it was the first day of the school and how could a teacher during the early hours of the first day could resort to corporal punishment, he said adding that he has complete faith in police system and hopefully truth will surface.
One of students said that no student was beaten up by any teacher as no morning assembly was held due to wet ground.
The body was taken to Panta Chowk for the postmortem. The forensic experts inspected the place of occurrence the body of the student has been sent for post mortem. Police has initiated inquest proceeding u/s 174 CrPC in this regard.
The deceased was living in Al-Mahmood, an orphanage home after the death of his father. Al-Mahmood Childrens Home is run by Darooul Aloom Rahimia Bandipora and its patron is Maulana Rehmatullah. Despite repeated attempts the warden of the Al-Mahmood Childrens Home, Altaf Ahmed could not be contacted.
Pertinently, Salih Sublime High School is run by Shahid Zehgir and Jahangir Ahmed.
