Uri: Army Thursday claimed that it foiled an infiltration bid made by militants to sneak into this part of Kashmir in Uri sector of the State.
General Officer Commanding 19 Division, V.G.Khandaria told CNS that Army personnel from 3 Dogra fired upon militants during the dead of the night when they were trying to infiltrate into Kashmir Valley in Uri Sector. The militants were five to six in number and they were pushed back by the Army. We dont know was any militant got killed in the shootout as the militants continuously retaliated, Khandaria said.
He further said that Army would launch a search operation once the firing stops. We are mulling to look for dead bodies if any, when firing stops. Militants are hiding in the thick bushes and Army is on the job, he said. (CNS)
