SRINAGAR: Dr. Abdul Rashid Choudhary, social activist, naturalist, and youth leader from Kashmir, has been elected Chairman cum CEO of the Earth Foundation International. Earth Foundation International is a leading non-profit organisation based on research, resource, policy and action and works on the issues related to peace, justice and sustainability in many countries of the world.
Dr. Rashid is the first Asian to become the chairman of the most promising non profit organisation of the world. Before his election as Chairman, Rashid has served on the board of governing council of EFI for three years in various capacities.
Dr. Joe Griffin from USA, Dr. Abdul Rashid India, Ashley Kon UK, Prof. George Smith Canada, Dr. Janine Taylor France, Barry Smith South Africa, Jennifer Schultz Austria, Kreutz Jan Turkey, Su Lee Japan, Pankaj Shahu, India, Reza Ahmed Bangladesh and Prince M. Ali, Saudi Arabia, Sara Alabuquerki, Austria, Jena William from Australia and Dr. John Taylor, USA are the members elected to governing council of EFI for the next five years. Also, there will few recommendatory inductions in GC later this year.
Dr. Joe Griffin, the outgoing Chairman, declared Dr. Rashid elected as the Chairman of EFI for the next five years, during a video conference meet of EFI Governing Council coordinated in New Delhi at the EFI head office. All the sixteen GC Members of EFI participated in the process and by a majority vote of 12 members Rashid got elected as the Chairman. The EFI Governing Council met in Dubai in February this year and declared the new Council but election for the Chairmanship was not held for some time due to delay in the overhauling and upgrading of EFI website and concepts.
Earth Foundation International is partner organisation with many of the world leading environmental, educational and developmental organisations.
Dr Rashid, has been active in his home state and has served as Secretary General of State Youth Congress.
