Geelani: Gool Incident Will Infuse New Life In Movement
Expressing his deep anger and resentment over the unfortunate incident at Gool Ghulab Gadh Ramban, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a complete shutdown and valley wide protests on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In a statement Geelani while demanding strict punishment for BSF personnel involved in desecration of Holy Quran and responsible for killing said, Though our basic target is the complete withdrawal of armed forces from the State but to prevent incidents like Gool Ghulab Gadh, we demand immediate removal of all BSF and army camps from civilian populated areas and their withdrawal to barracks.
Terming the incident as worst example of state terrorism Geelani said that India is not only murdering Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir but also is at open war with their religion. It is totally unbearable and to protest against such incident is obligatory for Muslims as prayers and fasting. Muslims can tolerate everything but to desecrate Quran or hurt their religious sentiments is never acceptable at any cost, Geelani said.
Paying glorious tributes to those martyred during protests, the Hurriyat Chairman said that history repeats itself. In 1931, Muslims of Jammu, by protesting against the desecration of Holy Quran, laid foundation for the freedom movement in Jammu and Kashmir. Today, after 82 years, these honorable and dignified Muslims again laid their lives by protesting against the shameful incident, he said.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that Ramban incident should invoke a new spirit of freedom movement among us and we should send a clear message to News Delhi that it cannot prolong its illegal occupation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Malik calls for Lal Chowk Chalo
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik who condemned the brutal use of force against innocent people offering Taraweeh prayers in Gool Gulab Gadh led a spontaneous protest rally which was attended by thousands of people in Budshah Chowk.
