SRINAGAR Michael Steiner, German Ambassador to India, called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The Governor and Mr. Steiner discussed issues arising from the world wide economic draw down and several important matters relating to the strong bi-lateral ties between the two countries.
They also discussed the possibilities of German investors assisting the establishment of business and commercial ventures for the rapid economic growth of J&K, particularly in the areas in which the State was keen to secure foreign collaboration.
The Governor and Mr. Steiner also held discussions in regard to the opportunities available for the youth of the State to pursue their education at the centres of higher learning in Germany, as well as availing job opportunities there.
It is pertinent to recall that the Governor, as the founder Co-Chairman of the Indo-European Union Round Table during 2001-08, has had extensive experience of promoting bi-lateral and multi-lateral understandings between India and the European Union countries.
